This 7 minute video demonstrates the importance of audio description.

Transcript: What is Audio Description?
Presenter: What is Audio Description? Videos with audio description include additional narration that describes what is happening on-screen when dialog has stopped. These descriptions provide important details about actions, settings, characters, costumes, facial expressions, or other visual aspects to enhance the entire concept of the video. This is to benefit persons who are blind or have low vision, or neurological conditions, as well as those who are only listening to the video. Without clear sight and without audio description, videos are not accessible and may even confuse blind viewers.
(Video)
Disciple: Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, so that he was born blind?
Jesus: Neither this man sinned nor his parents, but it was so that the works of God might be made manifest in his case. As long as I am in the world, I am the world’s light. Go wash in the pool of Siloam.
Presenter: Now, with audio description blind ones can clearly visualize the content of the video.
[Kindness. John 9:1-7. In a market, a blind man sits cross legged on the ground. He reaches out imploringly to passers-by. They ignore him. Jesus and his disciples cheerfully walk through the market, catching sight of the blind man Jesus stops. His smile fades, shaking his head, he purses his lips. As the disciples observe Jesus, one leans closer to him]

[Jesus looks from the blind man to his disciple]
Jesus: Neither this man sinned nor his parents,
[The blind man pricks up his ears]
but it was so that the works of God might be made manifest in his case.
[Jesus approaches the blind man, kneeling down in front of him, he puts his right hand on the man’s shoulder and gazes into his face]
As long as I am in the world, I am the world’s light.
[Jesus spits on the ground and makes a paste with the saliva. He smears the paste on the man’s closed eyes]
Go wash in the pool of Siloam.
[Nodding the man allows Jesus to help him to his feet. With the aid of a walking stick he sets off. Jesus beams as he watches him depart. At the pool, the man rubs water onto his eyes. Opening them he looks down at his hands, at first, they appear blurry. Then slowly come into focus. Overcome with emotion he looks at one side of his hands then the other, then raises his eyes heavenward]
